my little town
Dear Diary,
Whenever I come home from college,
all I think about is how small this little town is.
This little town I grew up in.
The high school is right down the street.
I probably could walk there if I really wanted to.
There’s five coffee shops I can think of,
and I spend my time going there on most days.
I honestly don't even talk that much to people here,
but that’s just because things change.
Things change,
yet this little town has always stayed the same.
The park is not even half a mile away from me.
When I went on a run earlier,
there were so many kids playing on the jungle gym with
their families and friends.
How sweet is that?
They have so much to look forward to—
like seeing the world and learning new things.
The center consists of random small businesses and a flashing red light.
Not everyone waits their turn to go at the light,
but maybe that’s because it’s Massachusetts.
I love how whenever I go out,
I always see the same people.
All those same people
but somehow I don’t know their names.
The only thing that I know we have in common is that we live in the same small town.
Sincerely,
Anna
