Lap 4 of 4

Dear Diary,  I just finished my last Spring Track meet ever. I crossed the finish line as a Whitman-Hanson athlete for the last time. That is crazy to think about.  ~ I joined track in the sixth grade because a bunch of my friends were talking about joining. The idea of running in circles sounded fun to me, so I gave it a try. It did not take long for me to realize that I love the sport of running. On days when I did not have practice (when practice was only 3 days a week), I would run the mile loop around my neighborhood for fun. As a middle school runner, I ran the 400 and did the hurdles. Hurdles? Yeah, I know. That is surprising. I qualified all three years for the state meet as well. Maybe that is what motivated me. :) I remember being nervous about Spring Track as a freshman because I heard a lot of people were on the team, and the idea of that made me uneasy. I was not sure if I could keep up with all the distance runners. To my surprise, practices were somewhat like t...

Thank You, Writing- An Ode by Anna Flynn

Thank You, Writing- An Ode by Anna Flynn Thank you letters are a well known piece of writing.  This might be considered a thank you letter.  I believe that writing is the most beautiful form of art.  It is as beautiful as a sunflower on a spring morning.  It is as beautiful as a pink and yellow sunset on a warm summer night.  Writing has the power to give voice to anyone  no matter their background or present social status.  Personally, writing has allowed me to express myself.  It has given me the ability to see the world from a philosophical perspective.  Writing has handed me the mental freedom to reveal the fractured mosaics of my life: the words no one speaks and the feelings everyone hides.  I like to call it my friend who has been with me through it all.  My friend who will never leave my side despite my mistakes and regrets.  When I put pen to paper,  it is as if my hands are my voice.  Screaming.  Shouti...

"This I Believe"

HI! Here is an essay I wrote in Creative Writing II! :)) I hope you like it!  “This I Believe” I believe in getting to know other people before you judge them. I believe that you can not know a true person until you know their true character. A person’s character can be described as their personality and how reliable and honest they are to others. There are a great number of people who hide their true selves from society because they fear others will judge them in a negative way. Thinking about what others have gone through and are going through can help you better yourself as a person because it causes you to try to understand them. It helps you become empathetic.  I once met someone who changed my perspective on life. They told me about how there is more to someone than their person in society. They told me about someone I personally know and how they have gone through more than I would have ever imagined. It made me want to know the individual on a more personal level...
